It depends on the headset. His razer isn't real 7.1 so it doesn't need a dedicated 7.1 soundcard in the pc but it has an integrated 7.1-like one.
@Badass : Does it show in the sound options (playback/mic)?

Try checking the connection on your mobo. maybe it got a little loose since it's a somewhat beefier cable/connector than a standard USB 2.0.

Why do you want to join us ? : okay , i like the server first of all , second think there is no Killcam so everybody can wall hack there ( and you know that ) , anyways i just wanna join to help you guys to keep the servers clean!:)
