15 km from the center of Tinghir, the gateway to the High Atlas, is the colossal gorges in Toudgha. These high limestone cliffs rise 300 meters above the ground and rising to 2500 meters. The source of Ziz flow is in the eastern High Atlas. Although it is intermittent along its bed, its rivers has long been used to facilitate human transit through this mountainous area.
