Everything has been covered pretty much. Nice build and you're definitely quite the good friends! :) I'm sure he'll love his gift. My only remark would be about the ram. If he's a professional photografer he can definitely use/need more ram. 32 should cover him. If it's over the budget I'd suggest going for lower Mhz modules instead. In my opinion, 32gigs even considerably slower than what you've chosen will be of more use to him.

Nice guide! DxTory is my recorder of choice. Also, I usually record off a demo.
