Puddingsbane 1153
nVidia released today their new highly anticipated GV100 GPU, this one comes in a form of a Titan. Everyone welcome the new king, Titan V. This thing is a monster and it will be available for 3000$, or whatever kidneys go on the black market these days. The focus of the card is AI and deep learning, not surprisingly it will do very well in those areas considering what it packs under the hood of that gold shroud of hers. So why the cost of more than twice the price of the current champion, the Titan XP? Well it has lots and lots more of computing power thanks to its GV100 architecture tensor cores, and it's backed up with a 12GB of HBM2 memory. Here are the specs of this monster compared with Titan XP and 1080Ti for contrast Architecturally, nVidia has also stated in the past that Volta isn't just Pascal with the addition of Tensor cores. The architecture has been changed in terms of thread scheduling and execution, memory controllers, the instruction set, the core layout, and more. But despite the massive die size and gobs of computational power, it's impressive that the Titan V remains a 250W part. That goes very well for the consumer Volta parts that we'll eventually see some time in 2018. In my opinion this GPU will be the end of us, as glorious as it is we are doomed. With great power like this comes great responsibility, and it's just a matter of time @QuickBreakdown completes his robot AI penguin army and wipes us off the face of the earth.
