Doge 704
Hi, I'm trying to run James Bond Nightfire -Old game from 2002-Released on windows XP machines However, when I launch it, I get an instant crash with the 'out of memory' error. This means that I don't have enough RAM available to launch the game, even though I have 2GB+ available to use. Basically, I have owned this game since 2007. Playing it on: -Windows Vista 32 Bit Laptop (1GB RAM)-Windows 7 64 Bit Laptop (4GB RAM) Now trying my -Windows 7 64 Bit Desktop (4GB of RAM) Why wont it work? The funny thing is, I have had this 'out of memory' error on both laptops years ago. I somehow fixed it & I cannot remember how! Google is useless 'Nightfire out of memory' brings up pages of old forum threads 10+ years old with no fixes! It's annoying because I have fixed it in the past & I cannot recall how lol - any help will be appreciated!
Badass 821
That is interesting. On your OS, is your virtual memory allocted? If not, do so.And running it as compatibility Windows Vista or any would not work? Doge likes this

Mrozy 391
Worked in the past on same windows, so you have some missed libraries. all Directx libraries:http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35Latest drivers for your gpu:http://uk.download.nvidia.com/Windows/355.60/355.60-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe Also check your C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFramework64 does you have all frameworks from v2.0 to 3.5and C:WindowsMicrosoft.NETFramework from v1.0 to 3.5 Out of memory error doesn't necessarily mean you haven't enough memory. It can means you haven't appropriate directx libraries. I think after update directx your game should startup. Mrozy 391
So try also this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 and tell results here, then we will find another solution :PAlso run game as administrator, just to be sure your pc doesn't block something. Mrozy 391
Maybe it's a weird solution, but try to open the game in window mode. Can you say how is the game called?Try also increase your virtual memory to 4-6gb. same value for initial/maximum size. Quote http://csgo-stats.com/mrozy/graphic.png
Substanz 4964
@Mrozy : James Bond Nightfire @Doge : be sure that your swap on c: is well managed by the system (2048/4096) would be enough regarding your amount of ram. don't hesitate to create a new swap on another partition, you have. If you are already using swap on c:, be sure that your disk isn't too full (more than 15% free) let me know Mrozy likes this
Doge 704
i sourced a copy of the game offline, it worked as soon as i launched it so the problem was resolved. strange really as I did what substanz said too. I would have thought the original 1.0 cd would be better than dowloading it offline! Substanz likes this

Scrappydoo 680
I would suggest to use advanced system monitor it cleans virtual memory that's not needed
