Driver/Firmware update makes HDD/SSD go slower?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As you may know, since my previous rig died, I recently got a new one with the help of subz.I run a samsung 850 pro 256 gb ssd in it, a Seagate 2 TB HDD Barracuda  ST2000DM001, and a Seagate 500 gb 5400 rpm (older HDD that I had spare).

Now here is the thing, I installed Samsung Magician, the driver/firmware for the 850 pro ssd. It said it had compability issues on some functions of this firmware with the current Intel Rapid Store Drivers (they are old I guess). So I went to the intel site and downloaded the latest rapid store drivers. The speed before downloading the rapid store drivers was in same order, 6 gb/s, 6 gb/s and 3 gb/s.The speed after downloading them was for all 1,5 gb/s.Then the samsung magician software said I could do a firmware update for the software/ssd. So i did, but still the magician software says that the speed of the ssd and hdd's are 1.5 gb/s. That is like SATA I speed or something? What went wrong, and how do I solve this.

Well i searched and found that the speed of read and write about 4 or 4.4 Gb/s basically there is softwares that make ur pc slower maybe it could be the reason u can rollback the driver update to itsorginal version  from device manager (since the driver is samsung then ignore intel messages)or just ignore intel message.(try to disable startup programs also .
